The backstory

My auntie Nellie’s funeral was a disappointment. They called her Helen. I didn’t even know that was her name. Her tribute was lacklustre. She never was. She deserved better. Some years later, after another bad funeral, I realised that I had to be the change I wanted to see in the world.

In 2010 I bought the domain Final Fling and started innovating. In 2012 I launched the world’s first platform for end of life planning. It won national awards and ran for a decade.

Over those years I trained to be a funeral celebrant, a wedding celebrant, a funeral director. I wanted to have more influence and impact at the time of need to offer others agency and control over big life milestones.

I founded the Scottish Humanist charity, A Quiet Revolution. I trained a network of diverse celebrants to co-create and lead ceremonies. We aim to help change the world… one act of human kindness at a time.

My passion projects evolved into something bigger than me. I’ve now handed over the reins to my Quiet Revolutionaries. I conduct only a few select ceremonies myself as I explore new territories in life. Wandering… wondering.

As a Humanist celebrant, I help create and conduct ceremonies to mark important life milestones.

I bring a basket of professional skills, qualifications and experience to the party - communication, consulting, event management, counselling and coaching.

“We feel so lucky to have met you. It was really special to have someone with such heart and personality lead the ceremony. People are still raving about how brilliant you were, how personal it was. Simply perfect. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
